His famous career began in the early 1980s and included a 1986 appearance on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. As a movie actress, DeGeneres starred in Mr. Wrong, EDtv, and The Love Letter, and also voiced Dory in Pixar's Finding Nemo and Finding Dory cartoons; for Nemo, she received the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress, the first time an actress has won the Saturn Award for her vocal performance. In 2010, she took on the role of judge for American Idol Season 9. She starred in two television sitcoms, Ellen from 1994 to 1998 and The Ellen Show from 2001 to 2002. In the fourth season of Ellen in 1997, she appeared as a lesbian on the show Oprah Winfrey.
